(Toronto, Ont.–Feb. 26, 2025) Ontario Regional Chief Abram Benedict congratulates Francis Verreault-Paul on his election as the Regional Chief for the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec and Labrador (AFNQL). His election marks a significant moment as he takes on the critical role of representing the voices and interests of First Nations communities within the AFNQL.
Regional Chief Benedict, who has previously worked closely with Verreault-Paul, noted his dedication to the AFNQL communities, stating, “Francis Verreault-Paul has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving First Nation Leadership in Quebec and Labrador. His leadership and dedication will undoubtedly drive meaningful progress and advocacy for the rights and sovereignty of our Nations.”
Chiefs of Ontario would also like to take this opportunity to express its deep gratitude to the now-former Regional Chief Ghislain Picard for his remarkable 30 years of service. His tenure is a testament to a lifelong commitment to uplifting and addressing the priorities of First Nations communities. Picard’s contributions have forged a legacy of leadership and advocacy that will inspire future generations.
