The Justices of the Peace Appointments Advisory Committee (JPAAC) is calling for applications for current Justice of the Peace vacancies in Ontario.

A Justice of the Peace is an independent judicial officer who presides in court over various proceedings under federal and provincial statutes.

There are currently six Indigenous serving vacancies. One each in Hamilton, Ottawa, Sioux Lookout, and Thunder Bay, and two in St. Catharine’s. Candidates that are Indigenous and/or people with an in-depth understanding of Indigenous languages, history, law, and communities and the issues affecting those communities are encouraged to apply.

Applicants are being accepted until Wednesday, May 31st, 2023 by 11:59 p.m. EST.
