(Toronto, Ontario, November 20 2023) — On November 21-23, 2023, the Chiefs of Ontario (COO) will be hosting a Fall Chiefs Assembly (FCA) in Toronto, Ontario, on the ancestral territory of many nations, including the Anishnabeg, Chippewa, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat peoples. Toronto is also part of Treaty 13, signed by representatives of the Crown and Mississaugas of the Credit, as well as the Williams Treaties, signed with various Mississauga nations.
The three day assembly will include critical updates on a variety of issues and priorities for First Nations in Ontario, relating to environment, education, health, social services, justice, economic development, justice, research and data management, youth, women’s initiatives and more. Delegates will also be joined by AFN National Chief Candidates, Minister of Indigenous Services Canada, Patty Hajdu, and Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs, Gary Anandasangaree.
