(Thunder Bay, Ontario, June 13, 2023) — On June 13-15, 2023, the Chiefs of Ontario will host the Annual Chiefs Assembly (ACA) in Thunder Bay, Ontario, on the traditional territory of the Anishinabek, which includes the Ojibwa of Fort William First Nation, signatory to the Robinson-Superior Treaty of 1850. First Nations leadership, citizens, and technicians from across Ontario are in attendance, with the theme, “Moving Forward: Strengthening Relationships for Future Generations.”

The three-day conference will include important updates on a variety of issues and priorities for First Nations in Ontario, including important environment, education, health, and economic development updates, and dialogues regarding First Nations laws and jurisdiction, First Nations Rights Assertions, and more. Delegates will also be joined by Minister of Indigenous Affairs Ontario, Greg Rickford, NDP Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs and Indigenous Services Canada Critic, MP Lori Idlout, and Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, Marc Miller.
