Welcome to the first edition of the Environment Quarterly Newsletter!

Shekoli and welcome to the first edition of the Chiefs of Ontario Environment Newsletter. The COVID-19 pandemic has made sweeping changes to our daily lives and transformed the way we connect with one another. Despite many challenges and setbacks, First Nations across the region continue the important work of protecting the environment and upholding treaty and aboriginal rights.

The COVID-19 pandemic has added to the challenge of sharing and communicating environmental issues with First Nations leadership, technicians, and community members on a timely basis. With this quarterly newsletter, we hope to provide an alternative to meeting in person by featuring environment-related events, updates, and meetings for First Nations in Ontario.

I would like to take a moment to thank front-line workers for their continued efforts to ensure we all remain safe and healthy during the COVID-19 pandemic. I would also like to provide my condolences to families who have lost loved ones due to COVID-19. A special thank you to the Chiefs Committee on Environment for their continued support and guidance during the COVID 19 pandemic.

Finally, the Environment Newsletter can be viewed online by desktop, tablet, or smartphone. If you have any feedback, please contact us here: Kathleen.Padulo@coo.org
