Economic Development Related Legislative Needs for First Nations in Ontario

Olthuis, Kleer, Townshend LLP (“OKT”) report outlining a review of legislation in Ontario which hinders economic development for First Nations in the Province. OKT’s recommendations and review are underpinned by our mission to ensure that the rights of Indigenous people are recognized and affirmed and further, that Indigenous people have a decision-making role over activities that occur in their territories. These values inform our recommendations with respect to how legislation should be changed to enhance economic development for First Nations.
