In 2013, the Indigenous Justice Group (IJG) was first established as a short-term advisory group to provide advice to the Attorney General on broad matters affecting First Nations peoples and the justice system. The IJG was established pursuant to Recommendation 2 of the Honourable Frank Iacobucci’s report entitled First Nations Representation on Ontario Juries.
In July 2020, the Indigenous Justice Division of the Ministry of the Attorney General received official approval from the Government of Ontario to convert the Indigenous Justice Group (IJG) from a short-term advisory group to a permanent provincial body. This change will officially take place on December 12, 2020.
In order to be considered for appointment to the permanent IJG as either a regular member or Co-Chair, we encourage all interested applicants to visit the Public Appointments Secretariat website to apply online, here:
If you or someone you know would like to request a translation of the IJG position postings in one or more Indigenous languages or would like to apply by mailing in a hardcopy application rather than applying online, please contact me directly at Sara.Greenfield@Ontario.ca or (647) 967-2891.
Applications must be received by December 8, 2020 to be considered.
